DISCUSSIONS
Topics related to foster care and adoption
This program is sponsored by FAFSS-Discovery Program. It was developed to give foster children a feeling of unity. The goal of this group is to let them know that they are not alone in what they are going through. To let them meet other children who are finding themselves in situations much like their own. It gives them a chance to get together, share a meal, and talk about what they are feeling or may be going through. It is provided by Becky Henkle-Program Coordinator. Meetings will take place in her home at 147 Second St., Ilion, NY 13357. This group will meet on a monthly basis for children 8-14 years of age. The next meetings will be on Sept. 26th and Nov. 28th. Octobers’ meeting is cancelled this year. Kids United is a wonderful program and positive experience that we hope to see many of our children attend. Those who have attended in the past have found the group to be very useful. It has helped them to understand the circumstances in their lives better. We all need friends in life when we are going through a hard time. Let’s give our children a chance to have someone their age that understands them also. Contact Becky at 895-0448 for more information/register.

The next Home Group meeting- Support Group Meeting on September 27th.
We will be meeting with Judge Miga for a question and answer session. The October meeting will be on October 24th. Topic will be announced at a later time. Both meetings start at 7PM, at Dawn Corrigan’s home
2 Lowell Drive, New Hartford (call for directions and reservations) 724-2989

Making Plans….
Yes we know! Not many of us want to be reminded that that picture is right around the corner. In all reality, living in our area, it is very true. Winter is not too far away. With winter comes the Holiday Season. With the holiday season comes our FAFSS annual Holiday Bash. Believe it or not, planning has begun for that bash. Please watch for more information regarding this. We are in need of volunteers to help set up, take down, and wrap gifts, purchase gifts and any other help that you have to offer. We are always open for suggestions to improve on the previous year. If you have something to offer, Please contact Becky at 895-0448. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.
Pat Robinson would like to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone that helped to make her HOME SHOWER a huge success. A great time was had by everyone in attendance and Pat and her family received many items that were lost to them in the family.

Respite Care
There is a GREAT need for this service. We did not receive a single response to this on the past posting. Are you willing to offer respite care for foster parents who are in need? Contact Carol at 797-9553 or via email (click here for the webform). She will be making a list for the next newsletter.

Something to share
If you have something to share with everyone and would like to see it in the newsletter, please contact Carol at 797-9553.
